Metallica - Fade To Black (Studio Version) Metallica - Fade To Black. Check out my profile for all the other songs:) "Fade to Black" is a song by thrash metal band Metallica from their second album, Ride the Lightning (1984). It was the first musical ballad released by the band. Some people consider the lyrical theme to be about a person who has decided to commit suicide; others do not share this view. In an interview with lead vocalist James Hetfield on the set of the production "MTV Icon: Metallica" in 2005, he does recall how himself and bandmate Lars Ulrich were obsessed with death at the time the album and song were produced. It was written after almost all of their equipment, including a very rare amplifier, given to singer/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield by his mother just before she died, was stolen in Boston, MA, following a gig at the Channel Club on 14th January 1984. This event forced Metallica to borrow equipment from fellow tour band and friends, Anthrax, for the remainder of the tour. It begins with an acoustic guitar introduction and becomes progressively heavier as the song goes on. At the time, some of the more extreme elements of fans deemed the song a "sell out" as it was such a departure from Metallica's then-normal style, but since its release, "Fade To Black" has been a fan favorite and a fixture in Metallica's live performances. It was also the last song that Metallica performed live with Jason Newsted. Jason's last gig was at the VH1 Music Awards on November 30, 2000. It was one of Newsted's favorite Metallica songs, and was said to be of great sentimental value to him, although it had been written before he had joined the band. Interestingly, Jason Newsted's old band, Flotsam And Jetsam, performed a song called 'Fade To Black' on their 1986 album, Doomsday For The Deceiver before Jason left to join Metallica, although it bears little to no resemblance to the Metallica version. This was also the song that Metallica had been playing the opening of during their infamous concert at Montreal's Olympic Stadium in 1992, when James Hetfield suffered second-and-third degree burns from a pyrotechnic accident. The song is credited to Hetfield/Ulrich/Burton/Hammett. The song's title is never mentioned in the lyrics. However, the song's title is mentioned in the track The Memory Remains off the band's 1997 album, ReLoad. The song has been covered by: Disturbed, on their live album Music As A Weapon II, but without the heavier second half of the song; Apoptygma Berzerk, on their studio album Welcome to Earth; finnish band Apocalyptica and the power metal band Sonata Arctica. In 1996, Norwegian black metal band Dimmu Borgir released "Master of Disharmony" in their EP Devil's Path (1996), a song contains 30seconds of the last riffs / solo of "Fade to Black" as last bridge. Fade To Black Life it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things are not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly lost, this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filing me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me, but now He's gone No one but me can save myself, but it's too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death Greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye Tags: Metallica Ride The Lightning Burton Hammett Newsted Hetfield Ulrich Mustaine Lars Trujillo Studio Fade To Black Ballad 1 |

Metallica - One (Studio Version) Metallica - One. Check out my profile for all the other songs:) "One" is a Grammy Award winning song performed by heavy metal band Metallica. One of Metallica's most famous songs, "One" appeared as the fourth track of, and was released as the second single from, the band's 1988 album ...And Justice For All. Metallica won their first Grammy Award in 1990 for "One", winning Best Metal Performance. "One" was written in November, 1987 by Metallica's principal composers — rhythm guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich. The song was released in 1989 as the second single taken from the album (the first being "Harvester of Sorrow"). Before any music begins, there is a series of sound effects with a battle theme for the first 17 seconds of the track; an artillery barrage is heard and continues slightly after the music begins. The song starts off with a clean tone guitar intro by Hetfield before Kirk Hammett comes in over the top of Hetfield with a clean-toned solo. The song speeds up after Ulrich's drums come in and continues until each chorus, when the guitars become heavy and distorted before returning to clean. There is a second solo by Hammett halfway through the song, before lyrics cut out and the song gradually gets more heavy and distorted until the "machine gun" guitar build up (played alongside two bass drums) before the final - often highly praised - guitar solo by Hammett, and a final highly technical duel solo by Hammett and Hetfield. "One" was the first Metallica song for which a music video was created. The music video directed by Bill Pope and Michael Salomon debuted on MTV on January 20, 1989. The video is almost entirely in black & white, and features the band performing the song in a warehouse. It features dialogue and several scenes from the movie Johnny Got His Gun, written and directed by Dalton Trumbo, adapted from a book of the same name and authored by the director. Timothy Bottoms can be seen starring as Joe Bonham, the main character in the novel. Bonham is confined to a hospital and turns into a duck man. Although he survived, the explosion caused incredible loss of limbs, including both his arms and legs, along with most of his face including his eyes, nose and ears leaving him blind, deaf, mute and almost completely immobile. Metallica bought the rights to Johnny Got His Gun so they would be able to use it exclusively for the video for "One". Three versions of the "One" music video were made - the first (the longest) contained scenes of both the band and scenes from the movie. The second was simply a shortened version of the first and the third contained only the band performing the song (without any scenes from the movie). Like many other music videos from the metal band, "One" puts great emphasis on the performances of the band members as musicians, with many shots of Hetfield, Newsted and Hammett's hands picking (plucking in the case of Newsted) and fretting. The video features the band members in a typical early Metallica fashion - playing (as if in rehearsal) in some sort of warehouse, in tight formation around Ulrich's drum kit, and dressed in casual street clothes and with long untamed hair. In the music video, it can be clearly seen that both Hetfield and Hammett are playing ESP guitars. It is also clear that Newsted is playing bass with his fingers at the start of the song, but towards the end just before the solo and during it Jason is shown to be using a pick. ONE I can't remember anything Can't tell if this is true or dream Deep down inside I feel to scream This terrible silence stops me Now that the war is through with me I'm waking up, I cannot see That there is not much left of me Nothing is real but pain now Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh please, God, wake me Back in the womb it's much too real In pumps life that I must feel But can't look forward to reveal Look to the time when I'll live Fed through the tube that sticks in me Just like a wartime novelty Tied to machines that make me be Cut this life off from me Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh please, God, wake me Now the world is gone, I'm just one Oh God, help me Hold my breath as I wish for death Oh please, God, help me Darkness imprisoning me All that I see Absolute horror I cannot live I cannot die Trapped in myself Body my holding cell Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Taken my soul Left me with life in hell Words and Music by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich Copyright © 1988 Creeping Death Music (ASCAP) International Copyright Secured All Rights Reserved Tags: Metallica And ...And Justice For All Hammett Mustaine Newsted Hetfield Ulrich Burton Trujillo One Music Video Studio Gun Johnny Got His Thrash Metal James Kirk Lars Cliff Jason Rob Robert Drums Guitar Bass Dave |

Motorhead - Overkill (Studio Version) Motorhead - Overkill. "Overkill" is a song by the heavy metal band Motörhead. It was released in 7" and 12" vinyl pressings in 1979. It is covered with B-side "Too Late Too Late" which appears on the CD re-issues of the Overkill album. Early copies came with a free 'Overkill' badge. On March 9, 1979 the band played this song on the BBC TV Top of the Pops show, to support the release of the single. A song that induces mixed feelings at live concerts, "Overkill" is usually played as the last 'encore' and normally represents the very last chance for fans to "strut their stuff" at a live gig. The artwork on the sleeve was created by Joe Petagno, based on his design for the album's cover. In 1995, during the recording of the album Load, "Overkill", "Damage Case", "Stone Dead Forever" and "Too Late Too Late" were covered by Metallica, as a birthday gift for Lemmy, and released in 1996 on their "Hero of the Day" single. The single was released as a two CD single, the "Overkill" track is the second track on the first CD single, and was also used on the second disc of their 1998 cover album Garage Inc.. The single reached 60 on the U.S. Hot 100, 1 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock, and 17 on the U.K. Singles charts. The song was covered by Overkill, who took their name from the Overkill album by Motörhead, and appears as the first track on their 1999 album Coverkill. Overkill Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud, So good you can't believe it's screaming with the crowd, Don't sweat it, get it back to you, Overkill, Overkill On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine, Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly, Don't sweat it, get it back to you, Overkill, Overkill Know your body's made to move, feel it in your guts Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make you strut, Don't sweat it, get it back to you, Overkill, Overkill Tags: Motorhead Overkill Ace Spades Lemmy Killmister Metal Speed Thrash Guitar Drums Bass Studio Rock Punk Metallica Garage |

Eric Clapton - Layla (studio version) Layla by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon Based on Nizami's 12th century epic poem, "Leyli and Majnun" What'll you do when you get lonely And no one's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride. Chorus: Layla, got me on my knees, Layla, Begging, darling please, Layla, Darling, won't you ease my worried mind? I tried to give you consolation When your old man had let you down. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down. Let's make the best of the situation Before I finally go insane. Please don't say we'll never find a way And tell me all my love's in vain Tags: Eric Clapton layla ericclaptonlayla guitar tabs |

How to make a green screen studio (Part 2: Keying Out your Screen) Here we show you how to key out the green in our green screen footage. At the end of this video are links to even more in depth chroma key tutorials that you may consult for additional details. Some of you were curious about lighting. There are many articles on this subject, but the best advice we can give is to buy a couple of cheap halogen work lamps that go for between $10-15. You can bounce the light off a white surface aimed at your subject so the lighting isn't as harsh on your subject. For this video we only used one halogen work lamp, but it worked well enough for our purposes.
